Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. has signed a supply agreement with Remy International Inc. for its high-performance electric traction motors. These motors will be integrated into Quantum's plug-in hybrid electric Ford F-150 pickup trucks.

The Remy HVH250 motor will help Quantum achieve an all-electric range of 35 miles and a hybrid operational range of 400 miles in its F-Drive parallel hybrid system. In hybrid mode, the plug-in F-150 yields a 25% decrease in fuel consumption and a 60% reduction in emissions, the company says.

Corporate fleets including Florida Power & Light and The Dow Chemical Co. currently use Quantum's F-150 plug-in hybrid, which comes standard with 4WD but can also be operated in 2WD. The vehicle has a payload of up to 900 lbs. and a towing capacity of 5,800 lbs.

Quantum also develops, manufactures and sells lightweight natural gas and hydrogen storage systems for alternative fuel vehicles.
