Westport Innovations Inc. has released its WiNG Power System – a compressed natural gas (CNG) bi-fuel platform – for Ford F-250 and F-350 pickup trucks with Ford's 6.2 L engine.
The WiNG system, which will be available for order through authorized Ford dealers and distributors later this month, has a starting price of $9,750, Westport says. The CNG conversion will be performed at Westport's facility adjacent to the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Ky.
Westport notes that the 2012 models with WiNG systems will be certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and 2013 models will also carry California Air Resources Board certification.
