The automotive division of Springfield Remanufacturing Corp. (SRC) has released its LoadMaster 8.8-liter natural gas industrial engine, which was designed in cooperation with alternative fuel system specialist IMPCO Technologies and Dart Machinery, an engine castings firm.
SRC has targeted the new engine for various applications, particularly in the industrial, bus and transit sectors. The company says the 8.8-liter LoadMaster features intake valves, exhaust valves and seats that are treated with a proprietary cryogenic process developed by SRC Automotive. This process improves product durability by increasing resistance to metal fatigue and abrasion without adding increased weight.
The engine is available as a long block through SRC Automotive Inc. or as a complete, customized and EPA-certified package through SRC Power Systems Inc.
