Smith Electric Vehicles and Trans Tech Bus have unveiled the all-electric, zero-emission Newton eTrans bus.
The 42-passenger Newton eTrans travels up to 120 miles on a single charge at speeds of up to 50 mph. The bus also utilizes Smith Power, which employs the latest in lithium-ion battery and regenerative braking technology to transfer energy from the brakes to the batteries when the vehicle is in operation.
The Newton eTrans is now available for order and will be shipped in early 2012, the companies say.
