Quebec Public Transit Fleet Deploying 475 Hybrid-Electric Buses

0

Nova Bus is integrating hybrid-electric drive technology from BAE Systems into 475 of its Nova LFS buses that are being delivered to Canadian transit agency the Association du transport urbain du Quebec (ATUQ).

A Nova LFS equipped with BAE Systems' HybriDrive achieves approximately 30% lower fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions compared to a conventional diesel, the companies say. A total of 4,000 buses worldwide with HybriDrive have already logged more than 600 million miles in regular service.

ATUQ is the largest public transit authority in Quebec, and it serves the province's nine largest cities: Montreal, Quebec, Levis, Laval, Longueuil, Gatineau, Trois-Rivieres, Saguenay and Sherbrooke.

BAE Systems notes that the hybrid propulsion systems for this contract will be developed at the company's facility in Endicott, N.Y.
