Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. says its large-diameter Type IV Q-Lite compressed natural gas (CNG) tank technology has met the standards of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) Regulation No. 110, enabling these Quantum cylinders to be integrated into natural gas vehicles (NGVs) in Europe and Asia.
ECE Regulation No. 110 sets the minimum technical requirements for CNG equipment used in NGVs, covering equipment thresholds for leakage, corrosion, pressure and other metrics.
‘We are excited to make our Q-Lite tank technology available to all U.N. countries and pursue opportunities outside of the North American market,’ says Brian Olson, president and CEO of Quantum.
The company notes that it will be pursuing ECE certification for other tank families, such as its 46.5 DGE product line.
