Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. says Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has awarded the company a contract to develop hydrogen systems for a mini-bus platform.
Under the deal's terms, Quantum will modify Mahindra's 2.5 L engine to run on hydrogen, as well as enhance the associated electronic control software strategies and engine calibration. Quantum will use its ultra-lightweight hydrogen storage system and proprietary hydrogen fuel injection system for the application, the company says.
Quantum notes that it will perform emission, performance and durability testing of the hydrogen fuel system at its test facility in Lake Forest, Calif.
