Peake Fuel Solutions LLC, a subsidiary of Chesapeake Energy Corp., has officially debuted its Diesel Natural Gas (DNG) conversion kit, which enables heavy-duty trucks to run on a mixture of diesel fuel and up to 70% compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved the kit for a number of engine platforms from model years 2010 to 2012, with horsepower ratings from 400 hp to 600 hp. The company says this is the only dual-fuel natural gas retrofit certified by the EPA in these engine ranges.
‘Peake Fuel Solutions' DNG technology can help the industry slash its biggest cost – fuel,’ says Kent Wilkinson, vice president, natural gas ventures. The company anticipates that DNG will help truckers save up to 30% on fuel costs.
Peake has begun accepting pre-orders for the DNG kits, and wide commercial availability is expected for the first quarter of 2013. For more information, send an email to info@peakefuelsolutions.com.
