The Milwaukee County, Wis., government fleet has taken delivery of four plug-in hybrid electric bucket trucks from Odyne Systems LLC to support the Department of Transportation's traffic-signal and street-lighting maintenance work.
The vehicles feature Odyne hybrid systems installed on Kenworth truck chassis and are the first to power Venturo corner-mount cranes, the company says. The trucks also feature fiberglass bodies and Terex TL60 aerial buckets.
Odyne sells its modular hybrid systems to truck manufacturers and fleets for new and retrofit applications. The system, which can reduce fuel consumption by up to 50%, is designed specifically for medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
