Rock River Disposal Services, a refuse and recycling company based in Rockford, Ill., has deployed the first 10 of a planned 30-truck roll-out of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.
According to a report from the Rockford Register Star, the company is making a $10 million investment to add CNG trucks to its fleet of 180 vehicles. Rock River Disposal will bring all 30 of the natural gas vehicles online over a three-year period.
The CNG truck deployment coincides with the opening of the first natural gas refueling station in the area: a facility at the Kelley Williamson Mobil station at 550 Southrock Dr. in Rockford. Trillium CNG built this infrastructure at a cost of approximately $1.2 million.
