At the 2012 North American Auto Show in Detroit this week, Nissan is debuting its e-NV200 concept electric vehicle (EV), which is based on the multi-application NV200 platform that is already in use in Europe, China and Japan.
Nissan notes that the e-NV200 shares major drivetrain components with the 2012 Nissan LEAF, such as an advanced lithium-ion battery pack and 80 kW AC synchronous motor. The e-NV200 offers excellent fuel economy, which the company says is a ‘critical factor for commercial vehicle operators.’ The production version of the EV will be targeted mainly at businesses.
