NGV Motori Gains EPA Approval for 2004-2006 DT 466 CNG Conversions

NGV Motori, an Italian firm that specializes in natural gas conversion systems, has attained certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion packages for 2004-2006 International DT 466 engines (now known as the MaxxForce DT from Navistar Inc.).

The EPA's certificate of conformity covers OEM engine families 4NVXH0466AEA, 5NVXH0466AEA and 6NVXH0466AEA.

This 7.6-liter heavy-duty engine is a common platform found in school buses, delivery trucks and other vehicles. In the U.S., NGV Motori also provides dedicated and dual-fuel conversion kits for platforms such as the Mercedes 6.4-liter 906 diesel engine (2004-2007) and Ford's 6.8-liter gasoline engine for the E-450 (2008-2009).

The company has supplied more than 500,000 kits globally over the past three decades. The firm's U.S. subsidiary, NGV Motori USA, is based in Alexandria, Va.

(Editor's note: The original version of this piece erroneously stated that the EPA certification covered natural gas conversions of 2014 MaxxForce DT engines. We regret the error.)
