Noble Automotive Group Inc./Vision Motor Co. says it plans to incorporate proprietary Precision Combustion Ignition (PCI) technology from Enerpulse Inc. into its SEERngv platform.
Vision's SEERngv is a compact car that runs on compressed natural gas (CNG) or as a dual-fuel gasoline/CNG vehicle. Enerpulse's ultra-high-power Pulse Plug will replace conventional spark plugs on all vehicles assembled by Noble/Vision.
Pulse Plug integrates a capacitor and energy-efficient circuit that increases an ignition system's energy-transfer efficiency from less than 1% to over 50%, the companies say. Product testing showed a 7.7% improvement in miles-per-gallon and a 67.5% decrease in non-methane hydrocarbons.
‘The Vision SEERngv vehicle is a logical application of the Enerpulse PCI technology, and the results are representative of PCI operational benefits,’ says Lou Camilli, president and chief technology officer of Enerpulse.
