Epic Electric Vehicles (Epic EV) and DeLorean Motor Co. Inc. have unveiled a new resin-infused composite body for the DeLorean Electric Vehicle (DMCEV), which is scheduled to enter production next year.
Epic EV says the composite body it designed for DeLorean is lighter in weight than the original model's, and it offers an increased safety factor. The body was also designed to allow for the DMCEV to add more battery capacity for greater range and provide passengers with better impact protection.
‘It was important for the DMCEV to not just have an advanced drivetrain, but to also decrease the weight and improve the safety of these new vehicles,’ says DeLorean CEO Stephen Wynne. ‘We can't wait to provide our customers with new DMCEVs that utilize this new advanced composites technology.’
