Chevron Products Co. has released Delo 400 LE Synthetic SAE 5W-30 engine oil, which the company says offers ‘significant fuel economy benefits’ for on- and off-highway heavy- and medium-duty trucks.

The mixed-fleet gasoline and diesel motor oil is recommended for engines in which the API CJ-4 or API SN service categories and SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade are recommended, Chevron says, adding that it is specifically designed to meet the demands of EGR and EGR/SCR engines. The oil can deliver up to a 4.5% improvement in fuel economy among Class 6 short-haul trucks and up to 2% among Class 8 long-haulers, compared to 15W-40 viscosity oils.

‘Many of our customers are focused on managing fuel costs,’ says Jim Gambill, North America commercial and industrial brand manager for Chevron Products Co. ‘Lubricants can play an important role in improving fuel economy, allowing fleet owners to reduce operating costs and stay competitive.’

The new lubricant, which will be available in the fourth quarter, is approved for API service categories CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, SN; Mack EO-O Premium Plus; Renault VI RLD-3; and Volvo VDS-4.
