Legislators in North Dakota have introduced H.B.1446, a bill to provide incentives for natural gas vehicles (NGVs) and natural gas fueling stations in the state.
Sponsored by state Rep. Robin Weisz, R-Hurdsfield, the bill would put the North Dakota Department of Commerce in charge of administering two new programs.
The $3 million NGV incentive program would provide cost-share grants of up to $7,500 to help recipients either purchase noncommercial NGVs or convert noncommercial vehicles to natural gas. The program also would offer grants of up to $15,000 for recipients to buy commercial NGVs or convert commercial vehicles.
Meanwhile, the $1 million natural gas fueling station incentive program would provide cost-share grants of up to $250,000 per retail location for equipment and the installation of equipment to dispense natural gas at a retail location.
If passed, the bill would aim to kick off both programs later this year.
