Landi Renzo Introduces Natural Gas Dual-Fuel Option for Heavy-Duty Vehicles

0

Landi Renzo USA has debuted in the U.S. market a dual-fuel diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) system for heavy-duty trucks that use the 12.7-liter Detroit Diesel S60 engine. The system, which was developed by Landi Renzo's in-house engineering and technical team, is designed for factory remanufactured S60s.

The company says this aftermarket natural gas option provides performance that is comparable to the original engine, in terms of torque, horsepower and drivability, but dramatically improves the vehicle's emissions performance. Landi Renzo has deployed similar technology outside the U.S. on applications that use Fiat, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Ford, Hyundai and Renault diesel engines.

Landi Renzo and Baker Electromotive recently wrapped up a demonstration unit, the Baker Electromotive DNG 100, that uses the dual-fuel platform in a Freightliner glider truck. This truck will be on hand during the ACT Expo in Washington, D.C., the week of June 24.
