Texas-based KLD Energy Technologies Inc. is working with Cenntro Group Ltd., a developer of diesel and propane autogas powertrains, to jointly develop electric vehicles (EVs) that incorporate KLD's drive-system technologies.
KLD's says its system, which comprises an electric motor, battery pack and controller – is applicable in a range of platforms, including motorcycles and scooters, three- and four-wheel on- and off-road vehicles, and other applications. KLD and Samsung SDI recently entered into a relationship to jointly develop lithium-ion battery battery systems.
KLD and Cenntro Group will focus on three products: the Utility Electric Vehicle (an off-road and on-road work and maintenance vehicle), the Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (a low-speed vehicle) and the Intra-city Logistic Vehicle (a compact delivery vehicle). The companies plan on marketing these products initially in the U.S., Europe and China.
