Kenworth Truck Co. says its model T680 heavy-duty truck is now available for order with Cummins Westport Inc.'s ISX12 G natural gas engine, which can run on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The ISX12 G is an 11.9-liter natural gas engine that can be configured up to 400 hp and 1,450 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is available for factory installation by Kenworth in the T680 daycab, 52-inch mid-roof sleeper and 76-inch sleeper versions.
‘The new, natural-gas-powered Kenworth T680 especially appeals to truck fleets and operators interested in low cost of operation opportunities from the effective combination of the T680's fuel-saving aerodynamics and cost-efficient natural gas fuel,’ says Andy Douglas, Kenworth's national sales manager for specialty markets.

The ISX12 G uses a maintenance-free, three-way catalyst and does not require a diesel exhaust fluid tank, diesel particulate filter or selective catalytic reduction technology. Kenworth works with companies such as Agility Fuel Systems, Trilogy Engineered Solutions and McNeilus to provide natural gas tanks and fueling systems.
Kenworth also offers the ISX12 G in the T660 and the T800 short hood with a 116.5-inch BBC.
