Kenworth Truck Co. is planning to have a model T440 compressed natural gas (CNG) tractor on hand this week during CALSTART's High-Efficiency Truck Users Forum (HTUF) event in Charlotte, N.C.

The truck, which is also a part of the conference's ride-and-drive on Thurs., Sept. 20, features an 8.9-liter Cummins Westport ISL G engine, six-speed Allison 3000HS transmission and Kenworth Extended Day Cab. The T440 is available as a straight truck or tractor in a gross vehicle weight ranging from a heavy Class 7 vehicle at 33,000 lbs. up to a light Class 8 truck at 68,000 lbs., according to Kenworth. The company notes that the 2010 EPA- and CARB-compliant ISL G engine uses a maintenance-free, three-way catalyst and is rated at 320 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque.

Kenworth, which will be exhibiting at HTUF booth 119, also offers the T660 (CNG or LNG), T800 (LNG) and W900S (CNG or LNG). The company's other alternative fuel vehicles includes the T270 Class 6 and T370 Class 7 diesel-electric hybrid trucks.
