Greenkraft Inc., a company that focuses on alternative fuel vehicle conversions for Class 3-6 fleet assets, has been awarded $400,000 in incentives through the California Energy Commission's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program.
The award will support buy-down incentives for 40 medium-duty propane autogas trucks. The funds are used to help cover the incremental cost of installing the alt-fuel systems in the vehicles, which are rated in the 14,001 lbs. to 26,000 lbs. GVW range.
The California Energy Commission explains that buy-down incentives such as these are available for vehicle manufacturers or their dealers and are passed on to buyers in California at the time of sale. To receive the incentives, buyers must agree to register and operate the vehicles in California at least 90% of the time for three years.
