US Foods says it has deployed five new trucks in its Oklahoma City division that run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and will purchase fuel from retailers that have partnered with natural gas producer Chesapeake Energy Corp.

‘These five new vehicles will help us drastically reduce our annual fuel costs while reducing the amount of emissions emitted during our daily deliveries to customers,’ says Sam Erwin, president of US Foods' Oklahoma City division.

US Foods notes that it is certified by the Environmental Protection Agency as a SmartWay Partner, whereby the company engages in initiatives to maximize fuel economy and reduce emissions.
