Diesel/Hybrid-Electric Class 5 Truck From Hino Set For Launch

Hino Trucks says its new Class 5 195 and 195h cab-over trucks, optioned with either a diesel or diesel-electric hybrid powertrain, will be available through qualified dealerships this fall.

The 19,500 GVW trucks feature 210 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque from Hino's 5-liter J05E series engine. Both models feature a wide cab with a North American standard 33-inch frame rail width, a 56,900 PSI frame, and a standard center-mounted rear fuel tank. Hino notes that the 195 model meets EPA 2010 emission regulations by utilizing an optimized SCR system.

The first diesel cab-overs will be available to Hino dealers next month, and the initially limited supply of diesel-electric hybrids will be released in California in September. As more product becomes available in early 2013, a staged roll out for the remaining markets will be implemented, Hino says.

Headquartered in Novi, Mich., Hino assembles, sells and services Class 4-7 commercial trucks in the U.S. The company has more than 180 dealers across the country.
