Utah-based alternative fuel systems provider dHybrid Systems has introduced its new 145 DGE back-of-cab compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel storage platform for medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
The system, dubbed the Model 206, ‘eliminates many of the hurdles that the natural gas fuel system industry has encountered over the last several years: weight, fuel range, chassis clearance and installation times,’ the company says. The system eliminates the need for side-rail CNG storage, which preserves space on a vehicle for equipment such as battery boxes and toolboxes.
DHybrid notes that the system, including mounting hardware, weighs 2,800 lbs. when empty. It features the company's proprietary fueling manifold and receptacles, which are designed to enable a fueling rate up to three times faster than other systems achieve. Moreover, Model 206 can be combined with additional CNG storage to yield 235 DGE of on-board fuel capacity for extra range.
The platform also comes standard with an in-cab, full-color touchscreen that gives drivers the CNG fuel level, true tank PSI, fault codes, distance before empty and other data.
