Fireboy-Xintex Inc. says it is now offering the Xintex Methane Gas Detection System, designed primarily for alternative fuel vehicles that use compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Heavy-duty truck and bus applications are the system's target market, but it can also be used in marine, railroad, industrial and oil/gas environments, the company says. The system constantly monitors the methane level surrounding key pieces of equipment (e.g., the engine and fuel system) and triggers both visual and audible alarms prior to methane levels rising too high.
Features of the system include multi-colored green, yellow and red LEDs to indicate functionality, operational status and danger; a test function button and reset button; waterproof methane sensors; and remote status indicator panels.      Â
