Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. (CDTi) says the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has approved the company's PGM-free catalyzed diesel particulate filter (DPF) technology for patent.
CDTi says its DPF platform, which uses no platinum-group metals (PGMs), is partnered with a diesel oxidation catalyst to reduce particulate matter produced by diesel engines by over 95%.
The company's Purifilter product is being evaluated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The Purifilter is designed to give fleet owners a new option for retrofitting vehicles under CARB mandates.
