The City of Santa Ana has acquired seven Ford F-550 trucks outfitted with propane autogas systems from ROUSH CleanTech to support the municipality's water and public works operations.
‘We anticipate dramatic fuel and maintenance cost savings,’ says Rick D. Longobart, the city's facilities, fleet and central stores manager.
The ROUSH CleanTech-equipped trucks each feature Ford's gaseous-prepped 6.8-liter V10 engine and have 52 usable gallons of on-board propane autogas storage. Santa Ana will soon be installing a 2,000-gallon propane tank and the associated refueling equipment – publicly accessible – in order to serve the new fleet of trucks. Longobart says the cost of propane autogas in the area is $1.50 per gallon.
Santa Ana's Facilities, Fleet and Central Stores Management (FFCS) division is operating under a five-year plan that calls for at least 75% of its 650+ vehicles to be fueled with ‘renewable and sustainable energy.’
