General Motors says the new 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel has been rated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to deliver an estimated 46 miles per gallon on the highway – an industry-leading figure, GM notes.
The diesel-powered Cruze sedan with a six-speed automatic transmission has an estimated range of 700 miles. The vehicle's starting price is $25,695, including an $810 destination charge, and it delivers 148 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
‘We harnessed generations of diesel expertise to adapt our world-class global engine for the North American market,’ says Gary Altman, chief engineer of the Cruze diesel, saying that the vehicle is ‘the best diesel passenger car out there.’
