Autocar, an Indiana-based truck manufacturer, has added another compressed natural gas (CNG)-equipped refuse truck to its roster: the class-7/’baby 8′ Xpert ACMD.
According to Autocar, the cabover Xpert was originally launched earlier this year as a diesel truck, but it is now available with the Cummins Westport CNG/LNG engine. In addition, the company says the class-7 Xpert is a medium-duty truck whose smaller size makes it ideal for crowded and cramped urban refuse collection.
‘The medium-duty purpose-designed Xpert refuse truck elegantly fills a void in the current class-7 refuse market,” comments Jim Johnston, president of Autocar. “Before the Xpert, waste haulers have been forced to make do with cookie-cutter conventional cab trucks which fall short in the ever-demanding refuse hauling application.”
