Peterbilt Motors Co. says the latest versions of PACCAR engines will be available in the company's full range of medium- and heavy-duty trucks starting next year. PACCAR's MX-13, PX-9 and PX-7 engines are designed to ‘maximize fuel efficiency, reliability and provide a low total cost of ownership,’ the company says.

The 12.9-liter MX-13 engine is tailored to heavy-duty vocational trucks and on-highway tractors, available in horsepower ratings starting at 380 hp and torque offerings up to 1,450 lb.-ft. The MX-13 is available in Peterbilt's new Model 579, along with seven other Peterbilt trucks.

The 8.9-liter PX-9 engine targets regional-haul and specialty applications, and the 6.7-liter PX-7 is ‘ideal for pick-up and delivery, towing, refrigerated van, roll-off and landscaping applications.’

Peterbilt notes that all these engines were developed to meet 2013 Environmental Protection Agency emissions requirements.
