Chrysler Group says the 2014 Ram 1500 pickup truck will be available with the new 3.0-liter V-6 EcoDiesel – a turbocharged engine that offers 240 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.
Paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, the Ram 1500 with the EcoDiesel features ‘best-in-class fuel economy,’ Chrysler says. The engine was developed by Chrysler supplier VM Motori and is equipped with a diesel oxidation catalyst, diesel particulate filter and selective catalytic reduction. The company says the truck will be emissions-compliant in all 50 states.
Chrysler notes that Ram will be the only brand to offer a small-displacement diesel for its half-ton line of trucks. The vehicles, which are produced at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, Mich., all come standard with a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Pricing for the 2014 Ram 1500 starts at $24,200, plus a $1,095 destination fee.
