Chrysler Group's Ram Trucks division says the 2014 Ram 1500 half-ton pickup will be available with a new 3.0-liter, V6 turbo EcoDiesel engine. The truck, which Ram says will be the only OEM diesel in the half-ton segment, will roll out in the third quarter.
The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel is manufactured by VM Motori, a Chrysler Group engine supplier. In the Ram 1500, the engine will be paired with the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
Fred Diaz, president and CEO of Ram Trucks, says the vehicle will ‘deliver on the demands of truckers by providing best-in-class torque, fuel economy and range.’
The 2013 Ram 1500 won Motor Trend's Truck of the Year, the North American Truck of the Year and Truck of Texas awards.
