Madison, Wis.-based Barnes Inc., one of the state's largest landscaping contractors, is planning on converting 11 of its trucks and one Toyota Prius to run on compressed natural gas (CNG).
According to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal, the company has contracted with Most Energy, Middleton, Wis., to perform the conversions. Barnes recently converted one of its Chevrolet 2500 HD pickup trucks to CNG in order to test how the fuel would perform.
The company, which has nearly 150 vehicles in its fleet, says it intends to shift another 20 vehicles to CNG within the next year and a half.
