Westport says it will be partnering with major global supplier Delphi Automotive PLC to help drive Westport's proprietary High Pressure Direct Injection natural gas technology into various heavy-duty engine platforms.
Under the agreement, Westport and Delphi will co-develop and manufacture high-pressure natural gas fuel injectors for engine OEMs. Westport will be investing in tooling, manufacturing, assembly and end-of-line test equipment, and Delphi will provide injector designers and engineering resources to ‘work with Westport's experts to optimize design, development, manufacturing and assembly of the injectors,’ the company says.
In the next four years, the companies plan on ramping up to a production capacity of more than 100,000 injectors annually.

Westport announced its HPDI 2.0 fuel system back in December.
