Trillium CNG says it will soon begin the construction of a fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) station for GRTC Transit System, the public transit agency serving greater Richmond, Va.
GRTC is in the process of converting its entire fleet of transit buses – numbering more than 150 units – to run on CNG. The agency is also planning on shifting its 78 paratransit vehicles to natural gas as they retire from service.
Trillium CNG will design, build and operate GRTC's new CNG refueling infrastructure, which will be located at the agency's headquarters in Richmond. The station will feature Trillium's proprietary HY-C hydraulic compressor technology, as well as the company's smart control system.
Engineering and permitting activities are currently under way, and construction is scheduled to begin later this month. The project is slated for completion in spring 2014.
