Freightliner Trucks says one of its Team Run Smart professional drivers, Jimmy Nevarez, will be logging his experiences while running a new Freightliner Cascadia 113 compressed natural gas (CNG) tractor on routes in Southern California.
Nevarez is an independent contractor who owns Angus Transportation Inc. in Chino, Calif. He has been a ‘PRO’ in the Team Run Smart community since last year.
‘Driving the Freightliner natural gas tractor appeals to me for a number of reasons,’ Nevarez says. ‘Based on my initial estimates, using natural gas will save me several thousands of dollars every year, which – as an owner-operator – has an immediate impact on my business.’

The CNG tractor features Cummins Westport's ISX12 G heavy-duty natural gas engine and 140 DGE of CNG storage capacity. Nevarez' rig will have a range of 500-600 miles.
