Investor-owned utility Piedmont Natural Gas is pursuing the installation of compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling capacity at an existing Spinx Co. Inc. convenience store in South Carolina.
Piedmont plans to lease space at the facility, which is located at Pearman Dairy Rd. and W. Whitner St. in Anderson, and own and maintain the CNG fueling equipment. Natural gas fuel will be available to both fleets and the public.
‘We believe this project fits very well with our own vision and mission to make people's lives easier and to provide quality services and products,’ says Spinx CEO Steve Spinks.
‘This is an important milestone for us as we continue to extend the base of our public CNG refueling stations along the important I-85 corridor in North and South Carolina,’ adds Karl W. Newlin, Piedmont's senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Piedmont currently operates 10 public-access CNG refueling sites in the Carolinas and in Tennessee. The station in Anderson will be its third public facility in South Carolina.
