Shell and TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) have opened two liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling lanes, located at one of TA's Petro Stopping Centers off I-10 at 4325 E. Guasti Rd. in Ontario, Calif.
TA and Shell announced an agreement in April 2013 to construct at least two natural gas fueling lanes for large, over-the-road trucks and related storage capacity at up to 100 locations, based on customer demand, at TA and Petro locations along the U.S. interstate highway system.
This station is the first of the agreement to sell LNG to heavy-duty road transport customers in the U.S. at TA and Petro fueling centers. Shell will supply the natural gas fuel.
Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TA, refers to all of the company's LNG lanes as “super lanes” because they have dispensers that can pump LNG, diesel and diesel exhaust fluid.
Additionally, TA has completed retrofitting at five of its TA and Petro Truck Service facilities in California, Pennsylvania and Texas to bring them in line with industry standards and regulations for completing truck service repairs on both compressed natural gas and LNG trucks.
