Sapp Bros Inc. and Stirk CNG have announced plans to construct two new compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations: one in Iowa and another in Colorado. The partners say both stations will use fast-fill dispensers, provide multiple lanes, and be available to all vehicles, with an emphasis on Class 8 trucks.
In Council Bluffs, Iowa, the companies will build a CNG station at the existing Sapp Bros Travel Center, located at 2608 South 24th St. Black Hills Energy will provide natural gas supply to the facility. Construction is scheduled to begin in March, and the CNG station is slated to open in early summer.
Sapp Bros and Stirk CNG have also formed a joint partnership, 4CNG LLC, to construct a CNG station at an existing Sapp Bros Travel Center in Commerce City, Colo.
Located at 7120 East 49th Ave., at the intersection of I-70 and I-270, the CNG station is slated to open in late spring. The Colorado Energy Office provided partial funding for the project through a grant program.
The companies previously worked together to build CNG stations in Lincoln and Columbus, Neb. The partners say the two new CNG sites represent their continuing commitment to build a CNG infrastructure at travel center locations.
