SAE International says it is launching its new Journal of Alternative Powertrains to address the growing need for information and industry dialogue related to advanced propulsion systems for motor vehicles. The group has named Dr. Zoran Filipi editor-in-chief of the new publication.
The journal will focus primarily on the publication of original scholarly research and review papers in the fields of alternative and electric powertrains and propulsion technology. It will cater to researchers, engineers, academic faculty and students, as well as industry practitioners who are working on system components.
The editorial coverage of the journal will include areas such as electric drives and electromobility systems; hybrid technology; battery and supercapacitor technology; hydraulic drives; energy storage systems for automotive applications; fuel cell technology; and charging and smart grid infrastructures, according to SAE International.
Filipi is currently the Timken Endowed Chair in Vehicle Design and Development at Clemson University. He previously served as a research professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan.
