Contract carrier and supply chain specialist Ruan Transportation Management Systems is working with U.S. Oil to build a GAIN Clean Fuel brand compressed natural gas (CNG) station in Des Moines, Iowa, at 120 NE Broadway Ave.
Ruan, which is a member of the EPA's Smartway Transport partnership, operates 260 locations nationwide and serves customers such as retail, dairy, grocery and manufacturing companies.
‘CNG use in the dedicated contract carriage industry is growing, and this not only gives us a competitive advantage by offering an additional lower-cost fueling choice, it helps us meet our sustainability goals,’ says Ruan CEO Steve Chapman.
Ruan currently has 85 CNG tractors in the Midwest, with plans to expand to additional units where there is a fit for CNG.
For its part, U.S Oil currently has 38 GAIN Clean Fuel stations open or under construction across the country, with a goal of having more than 100 CNG stations open within the next two years.
