Republic Services Inc. has rolled out 23 compressed natural gas (CNG) solid waste and recycling trucks to serve customers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn., area. The company's overall fleet in this service area totals 220 trucks.
The new fleet comprises Peterbilt trucks modified by Heil and McNeilus. On board are 8.9-liter ISL G natural gas engines from Cummins Westport and 75 DGE of CNG storage.
The company also installed a private natural gas refueling station in Eden Prairie, Minn., to support this new fleet of CNG-powered trucks. Clean Energy constructed the slow-fill facility.

Overall, Republic operates a fleet of more than 1,400 CNG vehicles and 26 natural gas refueling stations nationwide.
