Republic Services Inc. is rolling out 67 compressed natural gas (CNG) solid waste and recycling trucks to serve customers throughout southern New Jersey and in Philadelphia.
The company serves more than 78,000 residential and 8,000 commercial customers in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties in New Jersey, and in Philadelphia County, Pa. Its main operations run out of Mount Laurel, N.J., where Republic Services has also developed a CNG refueling station to support the new fleet of natural gas vehicles.
‘Three out of every four trucks in our local fleet will be powered by natural gas by the end of this calendar year,’ says Michael Murphy, general manager of Republic Services.
The company, which operates a fleet of more than 1,400 CNG vehicles and 26 natural gas fueling stations nationwide, recently announced new NGV fleets in West Virginia and Minnesota.
