Enova Systems Inc., a company focused on hybrid-electric and all-electric drive systems and components for commercial vehicles, has delivered four 120 kW drive systems to bus and coach manufacturer Optare for integration into the Solo electric midibus platform.
Optare's electric bus is based on a standard 27-seat Solo model and designed to perform ‘exactly like a standard diesel-powered bus, except that it is smoother, quieter and cleaner,’ Enova says. On a full charge, the bus has a range of about 65 to 80 miles, depending on load factors and topography.
Optare designs, manufactures and sells single-deck and double-deck buses and mini coaches that operate in the U.K., continental Europe and North America.
