Odyne Systems LLC and DUECO Inc. have completed work on five plug-in hybrid-electric trucks and delivered the vehicles to U.S.-based utilities.
Odyne says its hybrid power system can integrate with various truck-mounted equipment to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, and provide quieter operation at work sites. The vehicles were produced with partial funding from the U.S. Department of Energy.
Choptank Electric Cooperative, Consumers Energy and NiSource each took delivery of a hybrid bucket truck with Terex aerial devices. NV Energy and Pepco Holdings Inc. acquired hybrid underground utility vehicles that feature Vanair under-deck compressors for underground gas infrastructure maintenance.
