Silvi Concrete is partnering with U.S. Oil for the construction of a GAIN Clean Fuel station to supply compressed natural gas (CNG) to the concrete ready-mix company's fleet of CNG trucks.
The new station will be located at 355 Newbold Rd. in Fairless Hills, Pa., adjacent to Silvi's Morrisville concrete plant. U.S. Oil says the facility is targeted for completion in November.
Silvi is in the process of adding 30 Oshkosh front-discharge trucks that feature Cummins Westport's ISX12 G natural gas engine, along with two CNG-powered tractors that will be used for cement hauling.
‘Utilizing CNG will help us better manage our costs,’ says Larry Silvi, president of Silvi Concrete. ‘Equally important, it will help us reach our goal of becoming more environmentally friendly while allowing us to deliver the best, most cost-efficient product to our customers.’
U.S. Oil, a division of U.S. Venture, currently operates 17 GAIN stations and has an additional 15 under construction.
