New Grant Money Available for Propane Vehicle Conversions

0

The Tennessee Propane Education and Research Council (TPERC) is administering a new incentive program whereby fleets can access grant funds in order to help defray the upfront cost of propane autogas vehicle deployments.

Tennessee-based private business fleets – defined via the program as those that operate three or more vehicles – are eligible to receive $1,000 per vehicle that is either bought new with a factory-direct OEM propane engine or converted to run on propane (either in a dedicated or bi-fuel configuration).

The propane vehicles must be registered and operated in Tennessee for a period of three years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, in order to be eligible for the incentives. The autogas system in the vehicles – whether OEM or converted – must be EPA- and/or CARB-certified.

The program will continue until July 31, 2015, or until funds run out, according to TPERC.
