Blossman Services Inc. and BL Energie Inc. have formed a joint venture aimed at bringing dual-fuel propane autogas and natural gas conversions to the U.S. Class 7 and Class 8 trucking market.
BL Energie says it has converted more than 150 Canada-based trucks to run on a propane/diesel blend over the last two years. The company performed these conversions on a number of different engine platforms, including Volvo, Detroit Diesel, Cummins and Caterpillar.
‘We are offering an alternative to carriers interested in converting new or existing trucks to propane autogas, LNG or CNG,’ says Yvon Boisclair, president of BL Energie Canada.
Through the new joint venture, BL Energie USA, the companies will work together to develop, certify and market EPA- and CARB-certified dual-fuel systems based on the proprietary DieselBlend technology from Prins. The system enables heavy-duty trucks to operate on a blend of diesel and propane or natural gas to reduce fuel costs by approximately 20%.
BL Engerie USA's first target for certification is based on a 14-liter Detroit Diesel engine platform.
