Los Angeles-based MPG Car Rental says it is offering three new alternative-fuel models for 2012: the Chevy Volt, Fisker Karma and plug-in Toyota Prius.
The Volt has an overall combined gasoline-electric fuel economy rating of 60 mpg and a combined city/highway fuel economy of 93 mpg-e in all-electric mode. The Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid sports car has a fuel economy of 52 mpg-e in all-electric mode, and its electric motors deliver 403 hp.
MPG Car Rental notes that the Volt and Fisker Karma are currently available, and the new plug-in Prius is set to arrive in March. The Prius offers a combined electric and hybrid mode of 87 mpg-e, the company says.
