Pittsburgh Transportation Group (PTG) is planning on adding 25 propane autogas Chevy Impalas to its taxi fleet during 2013, joining more than two dozen Ford Crown Victorias that are already running on the alternative fuel.
Yellow Cab of Pittsburgh, a division of PTG, operates a fleet of approximately 335 taxis, and the company began converting some of those units to propane earlier this year. PTG's parent company, Veolia Transportation, is also deploying autogas-powered taxis in Denver and Baltimore.
PTG President and CEO Jamie Campolongo recently discussed the program with the Pittsburgh Business Times and noted that the company's previously announced autogas refueling station was recently completed. That facility was installed by New York-based American Alternative Fuel.
